QMI works closely with a number of highly specialised institutions associated with Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) which offers unrivalled excellence in research and a wealth of experience and insights in their chosen fields.
Queen Mary University of London
QMUL is organised into three faculties located across central London: Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
These faculties include many centres of academic and research excellence.In the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, these include Barts Cancer Institute, The Blizard Institute, Institute of Dentistry and The William Harvey Research Institute.
Research facilities include the Breast Cancer Tissue Bank and a Genome Centre.In the Faculty of Science and Engineering, these include the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences, School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, School of Engineering and Materials Science and School of Physical and Chemical Sciences.
Queen Mary BioEnterprises (QMB)
The QMB Innovation Centre is wholly owned company of QMI. It offers 39,000 square feet of commercial wet laboratory and office space within Zone 2 of London. It is London’s first completely new built facility for both early and late stage chemistry and biology start-ups.
The construction of QMB was triggered as a result of visible demand for incubation space within London. The QMB project is the culmination of an investment partnership between Queen Mary University of London and the London Development Agency.
Since its inception in 2010, QMB has created and safeguarded over 500 science jobs within London.
Clinical and Healthcare (NHS)
QMI works across all the hospitals within Barts Health NHS Trust to support the development of innovations arising from the Trust’s exceptional research activities and clinical services, for the benefit of patients and the NHS.
Partner hospitals are The Royal London Hospital, St Bartholomew’s Hospital, The London Chest Hospital, Mile End Hospital, Newham University Hospital and Whipps Cross Hospital.
