Amber Therapeutics emerged from collaboration between researchers at University of Oxford, Queen Mary University of London, University of Antwerp, and Antwerp University Hospital to develop the first adaptive neuromodulation therapy that is able to treat women suffering with mixed urinary incontinence.

The company was founded in 2021 by Aidan Crawley, Tim Denison, Stefan De Wachter and Charles Knowles with a mission to develop and deliver breakthrough neuromodulation therapies that can fundamentally transform outcomes in areas of unmet clinical need.

Amber has since grown into a multidisciplinary team, combining deep medical device experience with a culture and mindset focused on transformational innovation.

The company’s first therapy is Amber AI, which aims to restore normal physiological function in women suffering with mixed urinary incontinence.

At $100m, their Series A funding round was one of the largest ever in European MedTech.
